Asia Pacific Satellite Inc and the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) announced on the 22nd that they had signed an agreement to establish an organic cooperative system in relation to the development of 5G+ and 6G satellite-terrestrial integrated terminals and communication payload technologies.

Asia Pacific Satellite Inc completed the development of a mobile satellite communication modem system-on-chip (SoC) for 5G terminals based on the 3GPP Rel-16 standard last year, and the Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute has been developing 5G NR-based non-terrestrial networks ( NTN) developed core technology and secured standard intellectual property rights.

Asia Pacific Satellite Inc and Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute are 'Development and commercialization of non-terrestrial communication terminals standardized in 3GPP network (NTN)', '6G hyperspace cooperation 3D space satellite communication and mobile communication technology development', '6G era satellite - Mobile integrated terminal verification and commercialization' and 'Geostationary orbit/low orbit (GEO/LEO) communication payload development in preparation for the New Space era' were jointly researched.

Through this agreement, Asia Pacific Satellite Inc plans to overcome the limitations of 5G technology, which is centered on terrestrial mobile communication, and to preoccupy standard technology by developing 3D spatial mobile communication technology and 6G international standardization of 3D spatial mobile communication core technology. .

Through this, it is expected to contribute to the creation of various new markets, such as the autonomous driving service market for three-dimensional space moving objects such as air taxis, unmanned aerial vehicles, and aircraft.

Asia Pacific Satellite Inc. has been developing and manufacturing satellite mobile phones that have been supplied to 180 countries around the world since 2006.

In addition, since November 2017, it has been developing a small artificial satellite to be mounted on the Nuri, a Korean launcher, and succeeded in developing a flight model of a computer and data processing device mounted on a lunar orbiter to be launched in August next year for the first time in Korea. have.

In addition, it is participating in the field of standard-mounted computer, assembly and ground test equipment for the next-generation medium-sized satellite 1, scheduled to be launched at 3:07 pm on the 22nd.
